Take a Stand: The Effects of Sitting at Work

Although the graphic below is to promote the use of standing desks it does share some interesting statistics on the sedentary nature of our society. The graphic below states “Even 1 hour of daily exercise can’t compensate for the negative impact of incactivty on insulin levels if the rest of the day is spent sitting.” Although I spend plenty of time up and down I also spend an inexcusable amount of time sitting.

If a standing desk doesn’t work for you there are other options. When working from home I will sometime relocate to the kitchen and stand at the kitchen counter.

Have you every assessed you activity level versus sedentary time? What adjustments have you made?
