Aromatherapy Lesson: DIY Shower Vapor Disk

You never know when you may get hit with a cold or sinus infection. Using essential oils in vaporized form can help you breath easier and these DIY shower vapor disks are just the trick for turning a hot shower into an even more therapeutic and relaxing experience.

Supplies:
– Small mixing bowl
– Muffin liners
– Muffin tin or cookie sheet

Ingredients:
– 1 cup baking soda
– 1/3 cup water
– Eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils

Preheat over to 350 degrees.

Mix baking soda and water. If the mixture is still dry continue to add 1 tablespoon of water at a time until you get a paste consistency.

Put mixture into muffin liners and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

After the disks are cooled completely add 3-5 drops of each essential oil to each disk. Store in airtight container. Remove muffin liner before use.

When you are ready to use place disk in bottom of shower and shower as usual.

You can also make disks for other uses such as relaxation (using lavender and chamomile) or alertness (using citrus oils and/or lemongrass). Trying using Top 10 Essential Oils & Benefits we have shared recently from HealthCentral to get ideas for oils to use for desired effects.
