Flex Spending Can Pay for Massage Therapy

It’s that time of year again. Time to use or lose your Flex Spending Account (FSA) for this year! Also, it’s time to plan how much money to put into your flex account for 2013. Don’t forget that you may be able to pay for massage therapy as well as other medical services with your pre-tax FSA.

First, check with your flex account administrator to see if massage is covered. If it is, confirm what documentation is needed for your file. This usually takes the form of a note from your primary care provider – usually a doctor or chiropractor – indicating that massage is necessary, and why. Your flex account / HR representative will keep a copy of this note on file.

Don’t lose your flex money! If you have any money left in your account this year, then this would be an ideal time to get a massage.
